Who Takes Lessons With Us
Young beginners — Children in Kennesaw can start as early as age 4, learning rhythm, notes, and instrument basics through patient, focused sessions. Many Kennesaw families are giving their children their first experience with formal music education, and we take that trust seriously — building a foundation of skill and enjoyment that will serve every child for years to come.
School-age & competitive students — Kennesaw's public school music programs run deep. Harrison High School, North Cobb High School, and Kennesaw Mountain High School all run competitive band and orchestra programs in the Cobb County system. North Cobb's programs have earned consistent GMEA recognition. Kennesaw Mountain's Wind Symphony performs at major regional festivals. And Kennesaw State University's Bailey School of Music provides summer camp opportunities and a university-level performance venue right in the city. Private lessons develop the individual technique that large-group rehearsals cannot cover.
Adults & returning players — Kennesaw's proximity to KSU means the city attracts people who value education and cultural life. Adults here come to lessons because they want to understand music more deeply — not just listen to it, but play it. Guitar, piano, and music theory are popular choices. Same evaluation-first approach for everyone.

Your Instructor
Soul Music Lessons is led by a multi-instrumentalist who directly teaches violin, viola, piano, classical guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, music theory, and cello. This is not a franchise with rotating staff — your evaluation is conducted by the person who will guide your musical development long-term. Specialist instructors handle voice, drums, saxophone, and flute to the same standard.
Part of Kennesaw's Music Community
Morgan Concert Hall at KSU's Bailey School of Music hosts performances ranging from student recitals to international touring artists. The Kennesaw community benefits from a university town's cultural infrastructure without the big-city cost. Nearby Marietta's Strand Theatre and downtown square add even more performance and live music opportunities. Students who study with us gain the skills to take advantage of all of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age can children start music lessons?
We accept students as young as 4. The evaluation lesson helps us determine readiness — every child develops at their own pace.
Do I need any experience to start?
None at all. Many of our students begin with no musical background. Your evaluation gives us what we need to build the right plan.
How much do lessons cost?
Lesson options vary by length and format. Call 470-789-2422 or use our contact form and we'll walk you through what works for your situation.
Are private lessons necessary for GMEA and school auditions?
Students who combine school rehearsals with weekly private lessons consistently outperform those who rely on classroom instruction alone. Private coaching on scales, excerpts, and sight-reading makes a measurable difference.
Do you offer group lessons?
Yes — after private evaluation confirms readiness. Group playing builds listening, confidence, and the kind of musical friendships that make practice feel less like a chore.
Do you offer online lessons?
